Announcing the Launch of WBRIndependent.com

West Baton Rouge Parish is growing. Changing. Making decisions that will shape our communities for decades.

But too often, those decisions happen quietly — in meetings few attend, with language few understand, and consequences that few realize until it’s too late.

That doesn’t sit right with us.

We launched the WBR Independent to do what too many won’t:

  • Break down council meetings, zoning changes, and spending decisions
  • Track who’s making the calls, how it affects residents, and what it means long-term
  • Ask questions that deserve answers — clearly, consistently, and without spin

But that’s not all.

This Parish isn’t just politics and paperwork. It’s crawfish boils, high school rivalries, hurricane prep, fire department BBQs, and late-night levee walks. It’s who we are when we show up for each other.

We’ll cover that too.
Events, milestones, and moments worth celebrating — the things that don’t always make the news but still matter.

This isn’t a blog. It’s not just a page. It’s a platform — built by people who live here, for people who live here.

We’re also here to cover what others overlook.
Not every story gets airtime, and not every reporter shows up when the room is quiet. But we will. From zoning votes and parish meetings to everyday community wins, if it affects WBR, you’ll find it here—even if you won’t find it anywhere else.

At the heart of what we do is a simple belief:
In truth when it's uncomfortable.
In justice when it's delayed.
In the Constitution when it's ignored.
And in the American way—not the slogan, but the ideal: that power should answer to the people.

The WBR Independent is now live.
Welcome to something different.
