BRUSLY — A 21-year-old woman and 19-year-old man were found dead this morning in what West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office investigators believe was a murder-suicide at a residential trailer park along South River Road.

The victims have been identified as Christine Martinez, 21, and Jesus Hernandez, 19. Based on evidence collected at the scene, investigators believe Hernandez shot Martinez before taking his own life.

Discovery and Response

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., a family member discovered the two individuals deceased inside Martinez's mobile home. Martinez lived at the residence, while Hernandez resided nearby within the same trailer park.

Deputies responded immediately to the scene following the family member's report. Upon arrival, investigators confirmed the presence of one deceased male and one deceased female inside the mobile home.

Multiple Sheriff's Office vehicles secured the area with crime scene tape as investigators processed evidence throughout the morning. The heavy law enforcement presence reflected the serious nature of the ongoing investigation.

The circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation, according to the Sheriff's Office.

South River Road runs along the west bank of the Mississippi River in Brusly and contains several residential communities.

The Sheriff's Office has not released additional details about the relationship between the victims or what may have led to the tragic incident.
