23-year-old Randall Boyett jumped from transport van at red light; public urged not to approach
ERWINVILLE, LA — An inmate from Webster Parish escaped custody this morning while being transported to another facility, prompting an active search by law enforcement in the Erwinville area.
Randall Boyett, 23, jumped out of a transport van while it was stopped at a red light around 8:47 AM in the area of U.S. 190 and Poydras Bayou Road, according to the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office.
Boyett was being transported from Webster Parish and was incarcerated on drug-related charges at the time of his escape.
Criminal History
Boyett has a documented history of fleeing from law enforcement. In 2021, he was arrested in Escambia County, Florida, and charged with grand theft, grand theft of a firearm, and two counts of fleeing and eluding after allegedly stealing a boat, motor, trailer, and firearm. During that case, he fled from deputies on two separate occasions before being apprehended.

- 150 pounds
- Brown curly hair
- May have full beard or be clean-shaven (appearance has varied)
- Visible tattoos on right arm
- Last seen wearing a white shirt and black jogging pants
- Handcuffed in front at time of escape

As of the last update at 11:00 AM, search efforts remained underway with deputies and assisting agencies actively searching the area.
The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office has not provided additional updates since 11:00 AM. Boyett remains at large more than four hours after his escape.
