Port Allen Man Arrested on Fugitive Warrant in Crawfish Theft Case

A 54-year-old Port Allen man was arrested by the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office and transferred to Pointe Coupee Parish to face charges related to an alleged crawfish theft.
Ricky G. Hasbert was booked by WBRSO on Monday, June 30, 2025, as a fugitive from Pointe Coupee Parish. According to custody records, Hasbert was transferred to the Pointe Coupee Parish Detention Center in New Roads where he remains in custody.
According to the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office, Hasbert faces three counts of theft of livestock related to crawfish valued at $8,819. The warrant was originally issued in February 2025, with an additional charge added on June 25, 2025.
Hasbert remains in custody without bond and must appear before a judge, likely on Tuesday, before bond can be set.
The arrest demonstrates cooperation between local law enforcement agencies in apprehending fugitives across parish lines.
West Baton Rouge Sheriff Jeff Bergeron's office has not released additional details about the arrest. The case is being handled by the Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff's Office.
